Free Skype Calls to North America

So Skype now offers free calls to North America (apparently only if you are calling from North America). Here are couple links:

Skype

Slashdot

CNet

Except apparently it doesn't work for lots of IP address, looks like they have problems in geolocating the IP addresses. Many people with 70.* to 72.* can't currently use the free SkypeOut service, and I am part of that many people unfortunately.

Tried to use ssh port forwarding, but Skype uses P2P and random port to connect out, so that's not working either.

Great for the company's PR, I am sure.

(Update: tsocks is here to rescue. Redirected Skype to ssh -D to Berkeley campus works fine)

(Update 2: Which apparently means people can call anywhere from the world to North America provided that they can connect to a proxy server here, will Skype block this?)
